Course Information
Golden Horseshoe Golf Club - Gold ~ 2.28 miles (Not Driving Distance)
Considered the "Crown Jewel of Virginia golf," the legendary Gold course at Golden Horseshoe ranks #55 on GOLF Magazine's 2008 "Top 100 Courses You Can Play" based on excellence in design, conditioning and service. Created by Robert Trent Jones in 1963, the course boasts Jones' first island green on the par-three 16th. In fact, all four par threes are memorable in their own right and require a tee shot over water. Narrow rolling fairways lined by tall pines and ancient hardwoods lead to well-protected bent grass greens throughout. Rated 4.5 stars by Golf Digest, Golden Horses... more info.
Ford's Colony - Blackheath ~ 3.57 miles (Not Driving Distance)
Dan Maples created the Blackheath from an existing nine of the former Gold Course and a complete new nine holes. The result is a truly intriguing and beautiful par-71, 6621-yard layout. It's one of those courses where upon completion of your round you can easily replay all 18 holes in your mind. Particularly memorable is the 356-yard 18th hole with water down the right, dense woods down the left, and an island green finish. The Blackheath was rated as "one of the best 12 places to play" by Washington Golf Monthly.... more info.
Ford's Colony - Marsh Hawk ~ 3.57 miles (Not Driving Distance)
This course was the famous White to Red before being changed to its exisitng name. The overall appearance of the course is thick woods on a rolling-to-hilly terrain. The front of this course is flat and watery and the back nine is a bit hillier. There is a variety of sand bunkers, ponds, etched into hardwood flowering trees.... more info.
Ford's Colony - Blue Heron ~ 3.96 miles (Not Driving Distance)
The longest of the three courses at Ford's Colony, Blue Heron is typical Dan Maples -- gorgeous to look at, fun to play, yet difficult to score on. The par-five fourth hole is considered the toughest on the course with a meddlesome water hazard lurking behind a fairway bunker off the tee to the right. This hazard will also force many golfers to play it safe on their second shot which creates a tough approach to a small, well-protected green.... more info.
Tradition Golf Club At Royal New Kent ~ 22.39 miles (Not Driving Distance)
Ranked #4 on Golfweek's 2009 list of "Best Courses You Can Play" for Virginia, Royal New Kent is a tribute to the legendary links of Ireland. Creeks and small ravines snake through the fairway while sharp hills, hand-stacked rock walls, and tall grasses hide many greens. Most fairways are wide and inviting and the greens are large and receptive to most shots. A few hidden, deep bunkers will keep you from spraying it around too much.... more info.
The Golf Club At Brickshire ~ 23.43 miles (Not Driving Distance)
Everybody loves Brickshire. You will too. The popularity of this Curtis Strange signature course is easily explained in two words; "player friendly." With inviting fairways, true-rolling greens, and dramatic elevation changes, Strange has created a unique experience by replicating some of his favorite holes from around the world. St. Andrews, Augusta National, Pinehurst #2 and Riviera are all represented here. You'll finish in style on the dramatic par-five 18th, which Washington Golf Monthly named as one of the best finishing holes in the Mid-Atlantic. Take it from us, Brickshire is ... more info.
